Helmeted Guinea Fowl

Helmeted Guinea Fowl are a hardy, free-ranging landrace bird known for their sharp eyesight, loud alarm calls, and remarkable insect control abilities. While often raised for their meat or eggs, many keep them primarily for their role in tick and pest management, and as an early-warning system for predators.

On our 140-acre property, our flock has kept the land entirely tick-free, and they are often the first to sound the alarm when unfamiliar animals or people approach. They do well on open land or in semi-wooded areas and are excellent at self-sufficiency when given room to roam.

Keets are active and fast-growing. Guineas are most successful when raised in groups, and we recommend brooding them similarly to chicks, with extra attention to warmth and containment during early weeks.

These birds are not pinioned, and can fly.
